KraussMaffei's LFI (Long Fiber Injection) system has set new standards for the production of polyurethane composites. A LFI process head chops glassfibre roving to length, wets them efficiently with the reaction mix and pours the mix into the open mould in a robot-manipulated pour pattern. The ability to define fibre content locally in the PUR mix makes it possible to vary fibre length/concentration to match stress patterns in the part. The patented LFI- PUR® technology produces high-strength, lightweight composite parts at a competitive cost.
