| Panel foaming |
KraussMaffei offers a variety of discontinuous panel foaming technologies and solutions to suit each customer?s special production needs. |
| Principle |
| KraussMaffei?s 1+1 and 2+2 Panel Press design lets operators carry out panel preparation, unloading and loading, directly on one of the lower platens, while the already poured panel(s) cure in the press. |
| Technology |
The Panel Press is a welded beam construction, with precision-machined faces on support and mounting elements to ensure parallelism during operation. Separate rack and pinion systems for lengthwise and widthwise positioning enable parallel strokes of the press.
The press platens are precision-machined steel plates with internal welded heating water circuits. The platens are designed to withstand a maximum foam pressure of 2 kg/cm2 for standard rigid insulation foam.
The 2+2 Panel Press has five heated platens. One platen is fixed to the upper frame. The other four are travelling platens, mounted on wheels, for loading and unloading of the panels before they move into and out of the press. Travel speed is adjusted and regulated via the electric motor. While two platens are inside the press, the other two are outside for loading/unloading and panel preparation.
The mixing head trolley travels parallel to the longitudinal axis of the press, and is driven by a fixed-speed AC motor. |
| Customer benefits |
- Panel Presses can apply foam to outer layers made of a range of materials (steel or aluminium sheet, particle board, glassfibre-reinforced polymer).
- Flexibility in processing outer layers with different shapes, sizes and edges.
- The presses can output foamed panels in differing lengths, widths and thicknesses.
- Expandability by adding presses, multistation metering and closed-loop piping systems.
- Efficiency gains through off-line preparation directly on the press platens while previously foamed panels are in the polymerization cycle.
