Piston machines
Piston machines are suitable for metering PUR components containing abrasive fillers such as glass fibres or wollastonite. The component containing the filler is metered by means of a metering piston.

Principle
The component containing the filler is metered by means of a metering piston. This machine is available in four different models.
Technology
KraussMaffei offers four different piston machine models: One metering piston delivers a discontinuous stream of the filled component (Hybrid). Two metering pistons for the filled component deliver a continuous stream of the filled component (Tandem Hybrid). One metering piston each is used for the polyol and isocyanate components. This results in a discontinuous stream of the two components (Comet). Two metering pistons in tandem permit a continuous stream of the two components (Tandem Comet).
Customer benefits
Piston machines provide an economical way of processing abrasive PUR components. Production flexibility is increased. Even extremely low feed rates can be metered precisely. Mould filling times are short because highly reactive systems can be processed. With the Comet model, abrasive fillers can be metered into both the polyol and isocyanate component. Feed rates are very high thanks to the combination of pump and piston metering.
