The Customer:
A manufacturer of mass-produced articles
The Task:
Production of tampon-printed ice-scrapers
The Problem:
Cost-competitive, one-step production of giveaways
The Solution:
KraussMaffei system solution consisting of an injection moulding machine, a linear robot and a tampon printer
The Outcome:
The injection moulding machine is a standard KM 150 C. It is used to injection-mold four ice-scrapers at a time. The scrapers are demolded by a standard LR 100 linear robot manipulating a standard part-demolding gripper. The four scrapers are deposited, two at a time, onto a turntable that indexes them into a tampon printer. The robot picks up the printed scrapers and drops them onto a standard conveyor belt. The printing process takes place in a loop without affecting cycle time at all. By using only standard components, we kept the cost of this KraussMaffei system to a minimum so that the investment paid for itself within a very short time.
