MX injection moulding machines from KraussMaffei
For the very big jobs

Munich, December 2, 2009 – KraussMaffei’s MX series is a range of big injection moulding machines between 800 and 4,000 tonnes. Capable of delivering very high shotweights, MX machines are the answer for many specialized applications, including sampling for new large moulds – as KraussMaffei customer Hofmann Innovation Group does – two-component moulding and spin-platen technology.

Closer to customers

The Hofmann Innovation Group is an established partner for plastics processors, supplying moulds, models and prototypes. The company operates a number of injection moulding machines for sampling purposes and small runs. The latest star among them is a KraussMaffei MX 1600-8100/3000 W SpinForm machine. With a clamping force of 1,600 tonnes, this spin-platen machine can handle shot weights of around 4,900 grams plus 1,800 grams PS – enough for large 2-component parts for the automotive sector, such as glazing or a complete panorama roof. The new machine means that Hofmann no longer has to transport large moulds over long distances every time samples are needed. This saves time and money during the mould optimization process. In fact, the new MX from KraussMaffei is bringing the Hofmann Innovation Group even closer to its customers.

Partner with field experience

Lichtenfels in Upper Franconia, Germany, is the headquarters of the Hofmann Innovation Group. The group evolved from a mould-making company founded in 1958 by Siegfried Hofmann, which is still the largest member of the company group. Hofmann Innovation has since added eight other subsidiaries in Dresden/Germany, Pilsen/Czech Republic, Barcelona/Spain, Istanbul/Turkey; and Ningbo/China. The group is committed to providing full-service engineering – from product development to series moulds. As a partner to the plastics manufacturing industry, the Group, which has around 500 employees worldwide, focuses on modelling and prototyping, as well as on mouldmaking. Hofmann Innovation Group is also a strategic partner for KraussMaffei. Its field experience in the manufacture and use of complex moulds, particularly for multi-component injection moulding and for the production of ever larger and more complex plastic parts, is channelled into the continuous development of machine and process technology.
