At Chinaplas KraussMaffei will highlight the advantages of injection molding combined with reaction process machinery and so demonstrate its strength as an innovative technology leader. For instance, KraussMaffei will use the SkinForm system to create high-quality PUR surfaces on thermoplastic substrates in a full-fledged process. The production-ready manufacturing cell
consists of components from the KraussMaffei product line, a CX 200-750 injection molding machine with LRX 150 linear robot, and a RimStar Compact 8/8 polyurethane mixing and metering station with a high-pressure mixing head MK 5/8 mounted to the injection mold and a reworking station for separating the gate points. In this way, each plastic contributes its specific advantages. The substrate can be designed with many function elements, ribs, and assembly points for attachments and thereby exhibits high functional integration and strength. The exposed face is subsequently produced with a polyurethane structural foam in the second cavity of the mold. Use is made of a polyurethane system which combines a leather-like surface feel with soft-touch properties. "This system highlights the technological expertise of KraussMaffei throughout the entire process chain," said Frank Peters, Vice President Sales at KraussMaffei. "We supply machines, automation technology, mold technology and the trim solution, which are all based on our broad expertise." KraussMaffei is the only company worldwide which is able to supply all of these system components from a single source.
The excellent surface molding properties of polyurethane results in
components which offer the highest levels of scratch resistance and accuracy to detail. Polyurethane is an ideal material for many applications in automotive interiors and electrical appliances. "We believe that the SkinForm technology has tremendous potential here in China," explains Erich Fries, Head of the Lightweight Construction and Surfaces Business Unit of KraussMaffei, "and we look forward to collaborating with ECHOM." ECHOM Automotive (Guangzhou), working in partnership with KraussMaffei, aims to
mass-produce SkinForm products for the Chinese market. For this purpose, a fully automated SkinForm production unit based on a GX 450-3000 injection molding machine will be placed at the disposal of ECHOM for production, testing and mold proving after the Chinaplas trade fair.
Chinese-manufactured MX machines in production at customer's site Assembly of the MX series injection molding machines got off to a timely start at the production plant in Haiyan (China) in the first quarter of 2013. The first Chinese-assembled MX 850-6100 from the Haiyan production plant was delivered to a long-standing Chinese customer and went into operation shortly afterwards. "Delivery of the locally produced MX marks a new chapter in the ten-year success story of KraussMaffei in China," emphasized
Harald Schweitzer, Head of the KraussMaffei Group subsidiary in China, adding, "We look forward to further extending our product line with the assembly at our Chinese plant of the popular MX machines, which have been well received by the market." Plant extension work is nearing completion. Extrusion and reaction process machinery products have been in production at Haiyan, near Shanghai, for several years now.
