Strategic Procurement
Purchasing is a central component of our corporate strategy. We see significant potential in purchasing to increase value creation and earnings within KraussMaffei.
Our goals
We have set ourselves ambitious targets. Our top priority is to reduce system costs every year. This is to be achieved not only through low prices, but also by reducing our quality, logistics and warehousing costs. We are therefore constantly striving to optimize value creation along the supply chain. For example, how can we improve our procurement logistics? How can we make our products more cost-effective through optimized technical components and modules and offer added value for our customers through innovation? These are just some of the many challenges we face. Just as in our own company, we are interested in our suppliers improving their workflows and processes.
Our production principles place the highest demands on the reliability and performance of our suppliers. We therefore need suppliers who meet our requirements both economically and technically and who are willing to constantly develop further together with us. Ideally, selected suppliers are already involved in the process during the development phase of new products in order to jointly develop cost-optimized solutions for customers.
Global presence
KraussMaffei's purchasing department has a global presence. We serve the supplier markets in the USA, China and Eastern Europe with local buyers based at our sites there. The Purchasing department is headquartered in Munich. This is also where global responsibility for the material groups lies.
The purchasing volume within KraussMaffei is divided into five major material groups. These five material groups are mechanics, electrics, hydraulics, systems and general goods and services. Under these five major material groups there are a number of sub-material groups.
The purchasing volume in our mechanical materials group amounts to over 200 million euros per year. The most important material groups are:
- Welded assemblies, in particular machine beds
- Spheroidal graphite cast iron
- Semi-finished products
- Forged parts
- Mechanically processed parts
Would you like to become our supplier?
For KraussMaffei to be able to offer its customers high-performance products in the long term, we need partners on the supplier side who can meet our high demands both economically and technically and who are prepared to constantly develop with us.
We therefore select a limited number of suppliers as “preferred suppliers” who are prepared to face up to global competition and the global standards we pursue.
If you are an interested supplier and would like to contact our purchasing organization quickly, you can do so here.
