KraussMaffei’s Battery Encapsulation technology uses fast-reactive polyurethane (PUR) to encapsulate battery cells, modules, or electronic components. This process provides thermal, mechanical, and environmental protection while enabling efficient high-volume production.
- Material Preparation: Two-component PUR (polyol and isocyanate), optionally filled with thermally conductive additives
- Cleaning: Battery modules are cleaned to remove dust, oil, or other contaminants for optimal adhesion
- Mixing & Dispensing: High-pressure or dynamic mixing systems ensure precise dosing and uniform PUR distribution
- Encapsulation: The PUR mixture is injected or poured into the battery housing or mold
- Curing: Rapid curing at ambient or slightly elevated temperatures forms a solid protective layer
- Inspection: Final inspection for voids or defects ensures quality and reliability
