Product information

InMold labeling (IML) and film insert molding (FIM) are processes for decorating and functionalizing plastic components directly in the injection molding process. Pre-printed films or multi-layer inserts are automatically inserted into the mold, back-injected, and firmly bonded to the component.

FIM: Processing of three-dimensionally preformed film inserts – for complex 3D components with undercuts

On request, a ColorForm PUR coating can be added to the surface – for a brilliant appearance and lasting protection against scratches, chemicals, and weathering.

  • Design and function in a single-step process
  • High degree of design freedom – matte, metallic, tactile, or backlit surfaces
  • Quick decor change from shot to shot – high flexibility in production
  • Clean production environment – achievable with clean room technology
  • Turnkey solution from KraussMaffei – including automation, film handling, and post-processing
