Filament Winding
Manufacture of fiber-reinforced composite components
Product information
Filament winding is a highly automated process for manufacturing fibre-reinforced composite components with exceptional strength and low weight. Continuous endless fibres made of glass, carbon or aramid are wound onto a rotating mandrel under tension and impregnated with resin. Individually programmable winding patterns create a precise fibre alignment that enables optimum component properties. The mandrel moulding process enables the production of seamless, complex hollow bodies such as tanks or pipes - without any weak points.
- Tailored performance – fiber orientation can be precisely controlled for specific load paths
- High fiber volume content – up to 80% for maximum stiffness and strength
- Seamless structures – no joints or weak points
- Excellent dimensional stability – minimal shrinkage and thermal expansion
- Automated and repeatable – ensures consistent quality and scalability
